It's a small pot, with three small legs. There is an engraving of a horse on the lid. Our best guesses were "fondue pot", but there are no signs of flames on the bottom. It might be an ornate ash tray, with a lid designed to keep the fumes inside. There are what appear to be a few burn marks inside. We googled quite a bit but could find nothing that looked quite like this.
